Black Pepper Beer Bread
No yeast. At most 60 minutes start-to-finish.
3 cups (15 ounces) pastry complete wheat flour (or all-goal white flour)
one tablespoon baking powder
one/two tablespoon kosher salt
1/8 cup brown sugar
one teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
six-twelve ounces lightly hopped lager or ale
1 tablespoon melted butter-substitute
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a nine-inch loaf pan.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and pepper. Whisk till combined.
Pour in the beer, a tiny bit at a time, and mix gently until combined.
Dump the batter into the loaf pan, smooth out the leading, and brush/drizzle on the melted butter.
Bake for approximately 35-45 minutes, uncovered, until golden brown and crusty.
** Avoid a hoppy beer. The hops will include an unpleasant bitterness. Similarly, steer clear of a roasty beer, this kind of as a stout.
** I utilized Kölsch 151, from Blue Mountain Brewery (Afton, Virginia).
** Recipe adapted from Pop Sugar.
