. A few minutesin the oven will restoretheir original crispness. If your children refuseto drink milk, buy a pack-age of straws and servesodas in tall glasses. Forvariety, add a few dropsof vanilla. Cold cocoamakes a chocolate soda. Use up left over berriesor fruit as a garnish onyour breakfast cereal. Stale cake makes a good cottage pudding. Cut awayall frosting from the cake. Arrange in slices on individ-ual plates and pour hot lemon sauce over it. Top witha bit of jelly. Cracked eggs need not be thrown away. Use them incake or custards at once. Paper doilies and napkins are inexpensive and savelaundry. The family will enjoy eating picnic style insummer. Save gas by filling up your oven. Bake cake, pudding,pies or custards while you are baking potatoes. If youare roasting meat, slip in a pan of apples to bake or anescalloped dish. Dont throw away the water in which you cook veg-etables. Part of the nourishment of the vegetables isin this water. Save it to use in soups and sauces. 23
